Channel
Viator
Development has not started. Viator requires a reservation system to have five active engaged operators already using it before development may commence, and Viator supports per person pricing only, which rules out any tour priced per boat, per vehicle or per group.

Not started, and here is the gate.

Viator's Connectivity Quality Program sets a minimum that has to be met before a reservation system may begin development: the system must already have registered operators using it, and the published minimum is five active engaged operators.
RezRoute does not have them, so the requirement is not met and the work cannot start. We could call this coming soon. We would rather show you the gate and where we stand against it.
What moves it is operators connecting through GetYourGuide first, which is why that channel is the one being built. Nothing about Viator is blocked by effort or by cost. It is blocked by a count.
Before you invest any time
Viator carries per person pricing only.
- Per person. Supported.
- A price for each traveller, with the total rising in step with the party size. This is the only shape Viator carries, and it is the shape most walking, food, diving and seat-on-a-boat tours already use.
- Per unit. Not supported.
- One price for the boat, the vehicle, the villa transfer or the private guide, whoever turns up. Private charters in Greece and Cyprus are usually priced this way, and Viator does not carry it.
- Tiered. Not supported.
- A price per person that falls as the group grows, or a different rate for the first four travellers than for the next four. Viator does not carry this either.
What this connection would do
When it is built, Viator will ask RezRoute whether seats are free, and RezRoute will put that question to the marketplace calendar that holds the product, which answers from the seats it has at that second.
When a traveller pays, Viator will send the booking down the same route, and the seats will be written into that same calendar inside the transaction that checks they are still there. It is the same routing model as every other channel, because there is only one.
The difference between Viator and GetYourGuide is not the routing. It is that Viator holds a cached calendar for browsing and refreshes it on a published schedule, so the two systems agree about the far future more slowly than they agree about tomorrow.
Endpoints
The mandatory Viator APIs.
Tour List
The products available to be sold, so that Viator knows what exists.
Calendar v2.0
The forward calendar Viator caches and refreshes on the cadence published below.
Availability Check v2.0
The live check on seats, asked before a reservation is taken rather than read from the cache.
Event Notifications v2.0
Changes pushed to Viator as they happen instead of waiting for the next scheduled refresh.
Special Offer Notifications
Notification that a special offer has changed.
Special Offers
The special offers themselves, as Viator expects to receive them.
Reserve v2.0
Holds seats while the traveller is paying.
Booking
Turns the reservation into a booking against the calendar.
Booking Cancellation
Cancels a booking and releases its seats.
The names are Viator's. The one line descriptions are ours, written in plain words for operators rather than quoted from the specification.
Calendar
How often Viator refreshes what it holds.
| How far ahead | Refreshed |
|---|---|
| 0 to 2 days ahead | Every 2 hours |
| 3 to 30 days ahead | Every 1.5 days |
| 90 days ahead | Every 3 days |
| 180 days ahead | Every 4.5 days |
| Beyond 180 days | Every 7 days |
Viator keeps its own copy of the forward calendar and refreshes it on the schedule above. A change you make to next August is therefore not visible on Viator straight away, while a change to tomorrow is picked up within two hours.
The cache is Viator's rather than ours, and RezRoute does not keep a copy of anything. The live check before a reservation is what protects the seat, which is why a stale browsing calendar costs a traveller a click and not you a double booking.
Targets
What Viator asks for.
Service levels and monthly error ceilings
| Measure | Target |
|---|---|
| Uptime, critical synchronous APIs | 99.8 percent |
| Uptime, asynchronous APIs | 99.5 percent |
| Availability check errors | Under 1.5 percent |
| Reserve errors | Under 1.5 percent |
| Booking errors | Under 0.75 percent |
Support severity targets
| Severity | To acknowledge | To recover |
|---|---|---|
| S1, critical | 2 | 5 |
| S2, major | 3 | 14 |
| S3, moderate | 5 | 90 |
The severity targets are what Viator asks of a reservation system. They are not a support commitment from us to you, and we do not publish a guaranteed response time to operators. Support is by e-mail, and the support page says how to reach us.
Limits
Cancellations and amendments.
The mandatory API list includes a booking cancellation and does not include an amendment call. A cancellation releases the seats back into the calendar, where they become sellable again to anyone.
Refund rules, cancellation deadlines and the conversation with the traveller belong to Viator. RezRoute moves the seats and nothing else, and it does not take payment or hold customer money.
Price
What this channel will cost.
The commercial model does not change by channel. If your tours are listed with The Greek Local, connectivity costs nothing: no setup fee, no monthly fee, and no charge per booking. The condition is the listing, not a trial period.
If your tours are listed with Cyprus Bucket List, connectivity costs nothing on the same terms. Viator's own commission on the sale is a matter between you and Viator, and it is neither set nor collected by us. Full pricing.

We enable the channel and issue your product identifiers
One identifier for each product you want listed, issued by us, each one tied to a real departure in the calendar you already keep.
What is worth doing today
- Check how each product is priced. If it is per boat, per vehicle or per group, Viator will not carry it however long you wait.
- Get the calendar in your marketplace portal accurate. Every channel reads from it, so that work counts whichever channel opens first.
- Tell us Viator matters to you, at connectivity@rezroute.com. Demand for a channel is what decides the order things are built in.
- Connect GetYourGuide, which is live. Operators actually using the system is the thing the Viator gate counts.
Ownership
Viator is not available yet. GetYourGuide is live.
If Viator is the channel you need, say so and we will tell you honestly where the count stands rather than keeping you waiting on a maybe.
